The COMESA Court of Justice is participating in the Law Association of Zambia 2026 Annual Summer School from 20 to 22 October 2026 in Livingstone, Zambia, under the theme “The 21st Century Lawyer: Staying Relevant, Broadening Perspectives and Adapting to a Changing World.” The Summer School was officially opened by Mr Arnold Kaluba, the President of LAZ, His Worship Mr Bright Hanakamba, the Mayor of Livingstone as the guest of honour and Mr Elias Chileshe Chipimo who gave a keynote address.
The Summer School provides LAZ members with relevant and practical skills that enhance their legal practise. The Court’s delegation comprises Ms Mutinta Chinganya-Mulenga, Hon. Asiimwe Anthony and Mr Bedlu Asfaw.
To raise awareness about the Court, Ms Mutinta Chinganya-Mulenga, the Legal Officer, presented on “The Global Lawyer: Practising Law in the COMESA Region“. This presentation highlighted the mandate and jurisdiction of the CCJ and the opportunities that COMESA presents lawyers within the COMESA region to broaden their legal practise beyond national jurisdiction.

The presentation emphasised the importance for lawyers to be aware of the legal system of COMESA which regulates trade and investment in the COMESA region and how to navigate the CCJ as a regional dispute resolution mechanism to effectively represent the interests of clients in cross-border litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The Court also has an exhibition booth at the Summer School to share its publications, provide guidance on filing procedures and the use of CCDEMS, and respond to participants’ enquiries about its jurisdiction and dispute resolution services.
