THE CCJ MANAGEMENT ATTENDS THE SENIOR COURT ADMINISTRATORS COURSE

At the invitation of the Judicial Institute for Africa (JIFA), the Management of the COMESA Court of Justice (CCJ), administrators from other regional courts and African countries, are participating in the Senior Court Administrators Course. The training is taking place at the University of Cape Town in the Republic of South Africa from 8 – 12 September 2025.
The course covers various topics, including: Judicial Governance and Independence; Court Performance and Case Management; Strategic Leadership and Resource Management; Ethics, Accountability and Anti-Corruption; Technology and Innovation in Justice; Stakeholder Engagement and Communication; and Human Resources and Organisational Development.
The first day of the training focused on the Role of the Judiciary in Good Governance; Judicial Independence and Impartiality and Court Performance and Case Management which respectively discussed the role of courts in safeguarding human rights and promoting social justice and in exercising judicial review over executive and legislative actions to ensure lawful and rational decisions. They also highlighted the importance of court performance and case management to measure court’s success.2
The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Justice Mathilda Twomey-Woods and Dr. Joelle Barnes and included interactive discussions and participant engagement.
