COMESA Court of Justice attended a training on Knowledge Management
The COMESA Court of Justice (CCJ) Senior Management have completed a training on Knowledge Management (KM) facilitated by DevImpact Institute, from 2nd to 6th of December 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The training aims to enable the Court to strategically manage different types of knowledge by streamlining processing, transfer, storage, usage, and retirement of knowledge. The training started with an introduction to Knowledge Management as well as types of KM frameworks and models, strategies and approaches, tools and technologies, and the techniques of knowledge retention and transfer. The participants were also taught how to implement and sustain KM initiatives, measure KM success and effectiveness and manage change. Discussions also covered governance and policy development issues in KM.
The importance of Knowledge Management in an organisation such as the CCJ cannot be overstated. It is important for all stakeholders, whether internal or external to the Court, to know how and where to find information. KM is also an effective way of improving decision-making and maintaining institutional memory. As a way forward, the participants agreed that Knowledge Management would be an integral part of the next Strategy of the Court (2026-2030).
